Building Opportunity: Allentown Launches New Workforce Program

As reported by The Morning Call, the City of Allentown has launched the Allentown Works initiative after securing a $20 million federal grant through the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s 2024 Distressed Area Recompete pilot program. The effort focuses on boosting employment among adults aged 25-54 in the Franklin Park, Center City, and 1st & 6th Ward neighborhoods by offering job training, career placement, affordable childcare, and improved transit access. The goal is to help more than 650 local residents gain stable employment by 2030.
